  About

If you haven’t read my books until now, I am Rachael Treasure.

My four books include; Jillaroo, The Stockmen, The Rouseabout and The Cattleman’s Daughter and screenplay, Albert’s Chook Tractor for SBS TV.

For international readers the titles of my books differ so go to Rachael’s novels to cross check with Australian titles.

My writing aims at closing the gap between city and country people. Inspiring our younger generations into a career in the wonderful world of agriculture and farming.

I also am passionate about inspiring people to reflect upon themselves and their own lives.

I am a fifth generation Tasmanian (yes I do have convict blood!) and I live on a cattle and sheep property in Tassie’s south. My husband, John, and I farm in partnership with my father, Val Smith.

We have established the T&T Fast Grass company with our neighbours. The company is building a hydroponic fodder shed to produce sprouted grain as an alternative feed for our animals.

It’s also a way of looking after our land in drought times and will supply fodder to the horse industry in the near future.

On the home front, I’m a mum of little folk, Rosie and Charlie, and as a farm girl, cooks, cleans, grows vegies and works on the farm alongside John, who is the best husband in the world.

During the winter months I am contracted to harvest truffles using a sniffer dog, called Tiny.

I pour my heart and soul into my writing. My readers are my friends and I want them to feel the love and laughter I have to give the world through my words.
