Top 20 Cricket Poem

Well, I made the Top 20 list of the inaugural Cricket Poetry Award.
One hundred and six poets submitted a poem for the inaugural Cricket Poetry Award competition, in which twenty were selected to be publicly read by actors on the 1st Oct 2009.
Based on the reading and crowd response, the last four poems were chosen and re-read the following week on the 8th Oct at the Cricket Art Prize opening – SCG, Members Pavilion.
The judges, Adam Gibson and Jessica Halloran mentioned that a great majority of the one hundred and six poems were of a very high standard. As such, they had a very challenging time when reading and re-reading all poems; having to make some very hard decisions in the end to get the field down to twenty for the first public reading; then select the last four for the reading at the Cricket Art Prize opening.

Spring grass year-round

Jess enjoying her 'fast grass'
Despite the fact we’ve had the wettest winter and spring in decades and the paddocks are lush, our horses soon took to the feed.
Once the summer dries off the paddocks it’s going to be great to offer this fresh green pick to our horses, sheep and cattle.
At first we mixed it in with the horses’ normal dry feed and they ate around the sprouts but by day three as you can see Jess was chomping into the fodder, roots and all. It’s a great source of protein for horses and helps keep their gut healthy.
If you want more nutritional information go to the Foddertech website. Stay tuned for where you can purchase your supply of T&T Fastgrass in Tasmania’s south.

Looking good!

Up and Running!

Fast grass: Day 3
If you’re wondering why I’ve gone quiet on my blog – it’s not because I’ve been having a rest after releasing Cattleman’s Daughter!
Instead we’ve launched a new company! T&T Fast Grass. Our brand new fodder shed produces sprouted barley grain for all class of livestock.
We’ve had a really hectic time setting the system up with Foddertech and our neighbours, the Tate family. Watch this space for more T&T FastGrass announcements!

Fair amount of fun

Recently we headed to the Triabunna School Flower Show and Craft Fair to represent Levendale Primary School – our little country school with the big heart!
My young Charlie was a great help with our homegrown produce and later I was judge of the dog show. I just love country community and our little school is going from strength to strength.
We now have 17 children at the school – but we need more kids!
So if you are looking to live in a rural district and educate your children in a school that feels more like a family than an institution, google the Runnymede, Woodsdale, Levendale area for real estate – in particular Falls Real Estate.

Fun with Friday

The last of our puppies left home last week and I was thrilled to see some pictures come through of one pup, named Friday.
The dearest little dog! He’s now living with our friends Allan and Fiona in the local district so it means we can watch him grow.
Here’s for the letter he emailed home. Clever dog!

Hi to my previous mummy,
I am settling in quite well here on Funnyfang Farm though they have a thing called a cat! I growled, it hissed… so far no blood has been shed (I am pretty sure it was terrified by my huge fangs).
I have just been for a ride in the ‘CAR’ – I didn’t feel very well but my new daddy wasn’t at all cross when i threw up everywhere – oh well, I suppose I will get used to it (the ‘CAR’ I mean – not throwing up)
Daddy took me to the ‘John Quill’ patch today for a play – I’m not too sure who John Quill is but there were lots of flowers – fun to play in but they taste yucky.
I managed to subdue a particularly vicious fern as well (see pic)
I have a thing called a ‘BALL’ and another thing called a ‘RING’ (more pics) – I can chase them and sometimes even take them back to my new daddy (it makes him feel special anyway). I don’t even have to share them with my brothers and sisters – not even my birth mum
I think my new Daddy is OK – he calls me things like ‘Good Dog’ and ‘Clever Boy’ – this makes us all feel happy so I like that.
I got to sleep in ‘The House’ last night – I don’t think that ‘Cat’ was very impressed though as she usually sleeps on the bed and I was on the floor at the side of my new mummy so the ‘Cat’ wouldn’t come in. (tee hee)
Anyway – here are some pictures of my new adventures
love Friday
PS missing you but happy. Daddy says you are all welcome to visit at any time.
