I have just finished reading The Cattleman’s Daughter and I have to say it was incredibly good. One of the best books I’ve read – I honestly couldn’t put it down. Absolutely amazing!

Just finished it and I laughed and I cried, it is just brilliant Rach, such imagination, a real meaty book with a fantastic story line and highlighting todays farmers struggles. Still think the “fish hooks” bit would have been good, if you know what I mean ha ha!!

I can’t wait to read the new book! I’ve absolutely loved the others to pieces (almost literally). ‘Jillaroo’ in particular really pulled my heartstrings, it feels like the story of my life!
I grew up on a sheep farm near Boorowa NSW with my dad and older brother, mum and dad split up pretty early on. Dad was never good at showing his love, though he’s not quite as bad as Harry and has softened considerably in the last few years. We had to sell up about 5 years ago as wool prices weren’t doing so well and we were sinking further into debt.
In 2007, my brother took his life, so I can definitely identify with Rebecca’s own feelings of loss. I know that my parents still feel guilt over my brother’s death, but I feel personally that I have learned and grown a lot since.
I loved the farm, and still dream of it. Your books have started me thinking that maybe it’s possible to return to the life I love, and for that, I want to thank you with all my heart.
I’d really like to meet you at Deniliquin this week but I’m not sure how I’m going to get there from Canberra!

I was so excited to of found your tales and to find out of The Cattleman’s Daughter. I have just read Jillaroo after reading Barra Creek, since I wanted something similar – so it was suggested to me by the book store. I loved every second of it and was looking forward to going and choosing another of your books but now it sounds like there is no question as to which one!!

Good luck with your signings, I am 35 and new to reading so I must also say it is so very nice to be able to write and thank the writer of a book I have just read… Great work – I am hooked and a fan – Thanks

I just got your new novel ‘The Cattleman’s Daughter’ last night and got up to chapter 5 before my tired eyes started to win. It already has me hooked and can’t wait to get home and read some more before going to sleep. I can feel that the book’s going to be fantastic – as your other previous novels. Congratulations.

Hi there again Rachael, was so excited when i found out your new book had been released up here in Nth Qld and couldn’t get my pink fourby goin quick enough to go the 70kms to town to get it. I am now ready to settle in and start reading it and am looking forward to it. I have never been a huge reader but your books have got me really good coz i can’t put them down once i start. Though i have to from time to time as i have just becom the owner of a new pup myself and only being 3 1/2 wks old i have to take over feeding from the mum till she gets better at eating and lapping herself. So hence the timeout from your book but only momentarily! Anyways congrats on the new release as you deserve all good things that come to you as you are an awesome writer!

Hi Rachael. I have read all of your books. I have had the last two finished within 24 hours of buying them. You are a great inspiration to me as I can see a lot of country life as I know it in your books. You have actually encouraged me to write and am hoping to have enough short stories together to publish them soon. Keep them coming Rachael. Ros.

Hi Rachael
The Cattlemans Daughter is yet another terrific read! I love a book where you learn so much about this wonderful diverse land of ours, its fury with fires and floods, the struggles of previous generations who worked hard against all odds to make what we sometimes now take for granted and quite often abuse. Also in this book, we are once again reassured by the one thing that we should never underestimate – the human spirit and that you seem to have plenty of!
Well done! Looking forward to the next one.

I just finished the cattleman’s daughter. excellent!
Not since Banjo Patterson put pen to paper has the spirit and the very essence of the high coutry been captured so vividly as you have done with your novel.
The cattleman’s daughter was the first of your books I have read, but certainly won’t be the last. I have not been back to the high country for thirty odd years, but your prose was so real, it feels like I was there yesterday. Well done.

Hi Racheal just wanted to know if you would ever do an autobography, or a biography on your life, as an aussie farmer. I love your books, and it has made me reliase what i want to do with my life. Look forward to more great stories from you.

Rachael,
WOW,
One word that pretty much sums up my feelings when reading your books. I have just finished The Cattleman’s daghter, and was captivated. The Rouseabot is by far my favourite, I was actually wishing for red lights in traffic so I could stop and read it! I just couldnt put it down… I grew up in tasmania, and have close friends that have lived in woodsdale for as long as I can remember. I have now moved to South Gippsland in Victoria and often explore little towns like Dargo, I feel a strong connection with the characters in your books…
Can’t wait for the next book,
Thank you again…

Rachael, what a fantastic read The Cattleman’s Daughter is. I started at 12am and finished @ 5am. Now I can’t wait to get my hands on your other books…after I get some much needed sleep that is. As a writer, you really are a Treasure! Thank you so much.

I’ve read all your books to date so understandably I was very excited when the Cattleman’s Daughter came out – I just had to buy it straight away. But my excitement was short-lived. I was very disappointed with the amount of swearing plastered throughout your book and I cannot believe you found a way to incorporate the ‘C’ word in to your story – an absolute disgrace! You’ve proved previously that you dont need to use swearing and smutty sex scenes to have a successful book. What a shame…
