Live & Learn at Levendale
We are asking the Tasmanian State Labor government for two year’s grace in the future of our little Levendale School.
We have above average results for numeracy and literacy and the idyllic school grounds, community spirit and friendly, relaxed learning environment makes it a paradise for our kids.
If you are a community-minded family with at least two or three primary school aged children, we have affordable rental properties available NOW!
Your move here could save our school! Just 45 minutes from Hobart we live in rural paradise that isn’t too isolated. For expressions of interest submit your details in a comment below.

For real estate listings go to http://www.thehiddenvalley.net to find a patch of perfect lifestyle for your family.
A beautiful part of the world indeed, I’m living in Perth WA now, but spent a lot of time in Tunnack as a kid staying with family. Whilst in Tas recently on holidays with my own kids, decided to take a trip down memory lane with my Mum & Dad & we went for a drive to Tunnack, going through Levendale. It brought back some great memories, have truly considered moving to that part of the world, maybe one day, maybe Mr Perfect, (40 something & animal loving) lives in the area!!! lol
Hi Rachel,
I am a separated mum with 4 kids. My eldest is 17 and attends Rosny College. My next is 11 and is currently in grade 5. The next 2 are boys aged 8 (almost 9) and 7. I am living in a small house at Dodges Ferry and receive a Carers benefit for my youngest who has a form of Autism. A very dear friend lives in Levendale, told me about the needs of your community and that it may fit the needs of my family. My youngest does require a one-to-one carer at his current school, but perhaps in a smaller classroom environment, this may not be necessary. I don’t think I would like to take them out of school this year, but a new start next year would be ideal.
Please contact me on 62657989 or above email to discuss further.
Thanks.
I live in WA about a hr out of perth and after reading story today spoke with my children they are interested but with the cost of moving it just to much for us to head over as they said they could b able to b outside again without the fear of being bullied attacked and the list goes on as i have 3 primary age 6 8 11 and 1 in high school
Hello,
I have just read your story at news.com.au and would love to know more. I am married with 4 children, 2 who are still in primary school and the 2 eldest at high school. We moved to a small rural town in NSW last year and the kids love it. Unfortunately for us, their isn’t a lot of available rentals in our area, a lot of old farmhouses abandoned and left empty but none of the owners are willing to consider renting them out. Such a waste and shame as our lease is up mid September and we would love to keep living the rural lifestyle.
All information you can offer is greatly appreciated.
i am a 27 yr old mum and my partner is 31, we have a 2 yr old daughter, a 14month old son and one on the way. i also have a 12 yr old son who stays with us on holidays and my partner has a 12yr old son and 7 yr old daughter who stays with us on holidays as well. we live in qld right now and sometimes struggle to pay everything. we have thought about moving to hobart before so this offer sounds great to us.
Hi, I have a partner 26 and myself 24 with two children one age 5 and the other nearly 2 I am very interested in finding out more information and would love to send my kids to levendale primary currently looking for accomadation.
I have 4 kids, but only one old enough to be in school atm the others are all under 4yrs old.
It sounds like a good offer.
Do you have pictures of the houses and the town?
Is there any work there?
We are a young family from NSW with 3 children, 2 are schoolage and one who will start school in 2010. We are interested in any info you can give us. Regards Danielle
Hi Rachel,
As a parent of a large family (seven children) with the eldest in grade 7, my wife and I would love to move to a town like yours to raise our children. However, being a practicing Muslim family from the subcontinent, I doubt if it will work out well. And then there is the job issue. I work in IT, cities workout better in terms of employment and survival.
Having said that, I am sure there are many others who would prefer to take up your offer to move in. Here is my 2cents worth of ideas to make your town more attractive to families with kids.
The market you are trying to corner is a special one. In this age of ‘myself first’, these couples have made a conscious decision to sacrifice their time, money and life for raising children.
1. Such conviction can arise only from a moderate to strongly religious family. So having some form of religious support network they can fit in and contribute will be a plus.
2. Families resent and fear outside interference in matters related to raising children. Greens have a strong presence in Tasmania for reasons different from the rest of the country. But given the fact greens support in mainland is limited to inner-city constituencies made up of young, unmarried and childless couples, the mistrust that exists between families with kids and green constituents must be addressed.
3. Children require medical attention quite often. Local availability of Pharmacy, GP, possibly a pediatrician and guaranteed access to a hospital within reasonable time is a must.
4. Availability of jobs that are family friendly and a flexible work environment are a plus.
Hi I have one 8 year old and would also be interested in looking at moving to your small town, Could you please provide details of the offer. Greg
Hi
My husband and I are very interested in Levendale’s offer. We have four children, all under seven. We would love some more information please.
Thank you, Kirstin and Chris
Me and my partner have 5 children 3 are school age and we have another on the way. We have been looking for a house in the country for a long time as we think that country living is much better for our children.I do work so it would not be a problem to travel to hobart every day. I am well aware that travelling to some people does matter but to me it is not a problem I would rather my children go to a country school.I would hope you consider my position as we are really keen to go country
Hi I saw the article in the courier mail this morning and am interested but I live in qld and the cost of moving is an issue at the moment, I have one child in grade one and one to start in 2010, plus I have a 17month old. I also know a family of 7 children 3 primary school with 2 to start in the next 2 years. If there was any information you could pass on it would be greatly appreciated and we were wondering about employment in the area what is available etc.
Thank you, Robyn and Garry
We are interested in this opportunity. We have two boys in High School, 2 boys and a girl in primary school, and a girl and boy aged 3 & 16mths. Information needed regarding Doctor Access, Food, Internet, Library and Sporting. My husband is a junior AFL Coach and we have 4 children playing, So for us the community is what its all about. Job opportunities for our teenage sons would also be of interest. If we move how much household items are easily purchased in the area or does it require trip to Hobart.
Thanks
we are a family of 2 we are defiantly interested we used to live at oatlands we had to move due to house fire. we had to move to city whitch we didnt want to do we have been looking ever since for a house back in the country since feburary this year. we want the children back in the country cause we beleive the country schools and the country community are better for them .so please could you consider my application with great care i will put my phone number in as well home 62495114 mobile 0437860174.
Hi Rachel,
I am an art teacher although i do not hold formal qualifications. i have a 14 year old daughter who could use a bit of country in her life as could i. i have sent an email directly to the school.
Best Regards – this is an amazing idea.
Hi.
Myself and Cathy have 4 kids (6,7,11 and 12) and not a day goes by that we don’t sit outside in the evening talking about getting out of the city. I grew up in the country and it was a different and much richer world to experience at a younger age.
You said above to leave a message here if you are interested so here it is. I am happy to put our phone numbers up if it makes it easier.
We are good people and just want to get the kids somewhere that they can feel free for the first time.
The offer that Levendale is making sounds amazing. Please consider us and don’t hesitate to make contact either by the email address provided or by phone on the numbers below.

We are a family of 5 and would like to know more!
This sounds great I would be every interestedin getting more info.
Thanks
G’day
I have a family of 5 children two one grade 5 and one in grade 4 one starting next year. The younger two to start in a few years after that. We have never been to tassie before and we are currently in Townsville we think we would freeze until we got used to the area. I have been in the Army for 15 years and do not have any trade or qualifications behind me, my wife has limited qualifications too. It sounds like a great opportunity for us. We are just wondering about the possiblity of us getting reasonable work in the area to kick off our new lives.(outside the army)If this becomes the opportunity that we have been looking fr we could be moving late this year or early next.
Thanks heaps(i have high hopes)
Todd

Hi. We’re a married couple with 2 children, 1 3 1/2 and 15 months. I am a teacher and would like to know what are the opportunities for work in the surrounding area. We would love to move to a small rural town and have been looking for a way to move to Tassie from Sydney
Hi.
I am married with 2 children 1 who is 6 and 1 nearly 4. How do I apply for opportunity to live in Levendale and apply for the cheap housing. We are close to losing our home and everything we have ever worked for. We would be willing to move to Levendale and we both have skills that we could bring to the community. Please advise how to apply.
Hi Rachel,
I am shocked to read your offer AMAZING. My husband & I would love to relocate to a new area, and actually are planning such a move as this in April next year. My husband is a security gaurd and I am currently at UNI to become a teacher. We probably don’t qualify for your offer as our child isn’t quite one yet so he wont be in school for awhile, but I thought I would include my support for you well loved town
GOOD LUCK !!
Hi, my daughter-in-law Melissa Clark responded to this offer (not sure on what site) but gave no detailsabout the family her & my son have 2 children Amber who will be 6 in Sept. & is in school this year & her sister Chrystal-Lea who will be 2 in sept. I am involved in the family & we all currently live together in a surburban Melbourne..I have been trying to talk them into moving to Tassie, for awhile now & this offer would really help us to be able to do so.. Hi, we are renting in George Town at the moment & would love to move to a smaller town. We have a 9yo girl in grade 4 this year, a girl nearly 4 & 16yo girl who is enrolled at tafe. Please let me no about your offer if I am not too late.
I was wondering if this offer was still available and if so, would love more information. My husband and I have 3 chiildren 8,2 & 5 months.
We live in suburban Melbourne at the moment and we have always wanted to raise our children in the country, a town with a lovely community, Levendale sounds like this.
What job availability is there in the area, is there a local shop, doctor, etc in the town or nearby?
My husband is a qualified diesel mechanic & is good at welding.
I am a qualified childcare worker who can also be a kinder assistant.
Hopefully our qualifications are needed in the town/area.
This would be a lovely opportunity for our family.
Thanks alot
