Border Collies for Sale

posted by adminin It's a dog's life,Kelpie & Collie CollectiveComments (3)

We have a litter of Border Collies all ready to go out into the world. As they are yet to be vaccinated, they are a steal at $150. That price will rise to $250 once my friend Manty, the vet visits week — so get in quick.

They are from NZ short-haired lines and the parents are both nice paddock workers. We will only let our pups go to good homes — so read my e-book to make sure you have what it takes to give to a working dog.

For further information email John.

Update: This batch of pups has been sold.

Or for a special old line of true Tasmanian working dog, there’s a litter available on Flinders Island.

My first job as a jillaroo was spent at Ousedale, the property where these dogs are descended from.

Their breeder, Jamie Nye has this to say about them and having seen, first hand, his brother Phil work dogs and stocks, they would be good little dogs …

The father is a pedigree dog, and several of his pups are working well on properties over here (Flinders Island).

The bitch is my dog and descended from our family’s working dogs. Her maternal great grandmother was a papered purebred border, my first dog. She won a novice working dog comp, was an excellent paddock dog with a good wide cast and was quite forceful in yards.

Spot was bred from a joining of this bitch with one of our farm borders, who was a good paddock dog. My brother considerers Spot the best dog we ever had on Ousedale, she could sensibly work 3-2000 sheep in a 1000 acre paddock, and was very useful, with force and bark in the yards.

Spot was joined to another farm border, who had a nice wide paddock style and a natural inclination to head, apparently his father was a pure bred working Border who had won working dog competitions, the result of this union is my current bitch, Bubbles.

Unfortunately she didn’t inherit her mothers work habits, she is too hard and fast on sheep in the paddock, but is an excellent yard dog. She will willingly take on cattle and even a cows with a calf cannot baulk her. Her litter brother was an excellent paddock dog.

The pups are all black and white and look like genuine Border Collies, they are about 6 weeks old and I’d be happy to let any go now, as they are no longer being fed by their mother. There are no health problems with any of my dogs, Spot and her mother, Gemma both lived to 14, Bubbles is very fit and well at 7.

My main concern is finding good homes, $50 to $100 would be nice to help cover food and care bills, but I would be willing to give them to a proven caring home.

I live on Flinders Island so it’s a bit difficult for anyone to check them out. If any of your members are interested the pups can be easily flown to Launceston, there are morning and afternoon flights during the working week.

Hope this helps, happy to answer any questions, if anyone would rather talk to me, my home phone in 6359 6544, and my mobile is 0427 509778 . — Jamie

Hi,

We live on the channel in Tassie and are wanting a female border collie pup. We live on 15 acres and have goats. We currently have a female border collie but unfortunately has cancer. We are wanting to get a pup so our dog can train her in herding etc while she still has some energy left. I would appreciate it if you could help as we are quite desperate.

Many thanks

Stacey

G day Rachael,
I’ve just finished reading Cattleman’s Daughter, what an inspiring book. I have read all your books, I look out for them in the book shops and save reading for our wet time of the year, which is now. My husband and our 2 children run a Droughtmaster Stud near a place call Sarina. We are on the central coast of Queensland. We also have our love in short hair Boarder Collies and Kelpies. I enjoy reading your books as they are real australian and the love of this great land that we share. I’m not 1 for sending e-mail to authors, but my kids ,one is 14 and the other is 17 encourage me to e-mail you, so i thought what the hell. Thank -you for the enjoyable reading.
