Fun with Friday

The last of our puppies left home last week and I was thrilled to see some pictures come through of one pup, named Friday.

The dearest little dog! He’s now living with our friends Allan and Fiona in the local district so it means we can watch him grow.

Here’s for the letter he emailed home. Clever dog!

Hi to my previous mummy,

I am settling in quite well here on Funnyfang Farm though they have a thing called a cat! I growled, it hissed… so far no blood has been shed (I am pretty sure it was terrified by my huge fangs).

I have just been for a ride in the ‘CAR’ – I didn’t feel very well but my new daddy wasn’t at all cross when i threw up everywhere – oh well, I suppose I will get used to it (the ‘CAR’ I mean – not throwing up)

Daddy took me to the ‘John Quill’ patch today for a play – I’m not too sure who John Quill is but there were lots of flowers – fun to play in but they taste yucky.

I managed to subdue a particularly vicious fern as well (see pic)

I have a thing called a ‘BALL’ and another thing called a ‘RING’ (more pics) – I can chase them and sometimes even take them back to my new daddy (it makes him feel special anyway). I don’t even have to share them with my brothers and sisters – not even my birth mum

I think my new Daddy is OK – he calls me things like ‘Good Dog’ and ‘Clever Boy’ – this makes us all feel happy so I like that.

I got to sleep in ‘The House’ last night – I don’t think that ‘Cat’ was very impressed though as she usually sleeps on the bed and I was on the floor at the side of my new mummy so the ‘Cat’ wouldn’t come in. (tee hee)

Anyway – here are some pictures of my new adventures

love Friday

PS missing you but happy. Daddy says you are all welcome to visit at any time.

What a beautiful pup, and how delightful it is to know there are other dogs out there who, like ours, can write and talk too! I think this little fella would enjoy the company of our Jack Russell, Dodger. Have been meaning to contact you for ages. I am a friend of Fleur McDonald and she introduced me to your books which I have thoroughly enjoyed. I write and perform humorous bush poetry and would love to send you a CD as a ‘thanks for some great reads’, and hoping it will entertain you in return. Please let me know an address to which I can sent it. Keep up all your juggling!! Victoria

Hi Rachael,

So lovely to meet you at Fullers today. Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed The Cattleman’s Daughter – such timely subject matter. I’ve been reading your books since my time on a sheep station in NSW – and I love tucking up with a good book on my time off.

Congrats on the success on your latest book – hoping for many more.

Amy

The Cattleman’s Daughter

What a wonderful book. The only problem is once I pick it up I can’t put it down. I have read all of your books. You have a very special talent girl. Like you my love is the farm, stock and dogs. I have 2 working collies and 1 kelpie pup. You have one of the best websites around. So much information available at our fingertips. I know you need and deserve a long break but keep up the writing. Thankyou.

WOW!!! Daddy just found this on the ‘PUTER’ and sat me on his knee to have a look. That’s Me! Friday! though I have grown a bit since Daddy took those pictures. Does this mean i am famous? Better get in early if you would like my pawprint as they could be worth a fortune soon. Oh the Fame…I can feel my little black and white head expanding now (today Levendale – tomorrow McLeods Daughters). Daddy says settle down… The ‘CAT’ is giving me filthy looks (can I help it if I’m a star?)
Oh… ‘THE CAT’ just said she has already been on ‘ewetube’ (whatever that is – something to do with sheep I guess) and she has already had her fame.
I have learnt so much in the month here on “FunnyFang Farm’, sit, stay, fetch, retrive, hold etc. I also know which is my toy ‘MONKEY’ and my toy ‘RING’ but I still am not too keen on ‘THE CAR”. Anyway, must go for now – daddy says I’m too heavy on his lap. Famously yours…Friday

Guess what! Guess what! the ‘CAT’ has just had “KITTENS’! how amazing! I thought she was putting on weight but she got real upset when I called her fat… 6 of them – tiny little things they are – Daddy said life won’t be the same in a few weeks and I won’t know what hit me? Why do I have a bad feeling about this?
On a brighter note Daddy has been teaching me to play ‘Tennis’, he hits the ball with a funny looking stick and I go and get it and bring it back. Sometimes Daddy makes the hand signal to ‘DROP’ when I am half way back and it seems to make him happy when I lay down on the spot. Then he makes the ‘COME HERE’ signal and I have to get up, grab the ‘BALL’ and take it to Daddy and drop it onto that funny stick. He calls me the ‘BALLDOG” and gives me ‘PATS’ – I like this so I keep doing it – ‘TENNIS’ is such fun.

Daddy says there is a new thing arriving soon called ‘CHICKENS’ – what a funny name, I can’t wait to see what that is but Daddy says I am not to chase them. Mmmm… we’ll see about that.
Oh and I went in the ‘CAR’ the other day without actually being sick (I still didn’t feel very well though) but Daddy said I was a ‘GOOD DOG’ so that helps a bit.

What an exciting life I lead, Daddy says it’s time to visit the ‘VET’, that sounds interesting – I wonder what a ‘VET’ is? Maybe a new toy to play with?

I did get into a bit of trouble the other day though…Mummy had put these round pink things on the table in the ‘KITCHEN’, I’m not allowed in the ‘KITCHEN’ but these things smelt soooo good and I can reach the table now – Mummy said they were ‘HAMSTEAKS’ and I was a ‘BAD DOG’. I don’t want to be a ‘BAD DOG’ but they were delicious – all five of them!
Anyway, must go for now and keep an eye on the ‘KITTENS’
Talk later
Friday.

Hi Rachael,
I have recently been introduced to your books and am loving everyone. I am currently reading the Stockmen and got the Cattlemans Daughter for christmas. Each book takes me back to my childhood growning up on a horse stud in the Hunter Valley NSW. Keep up the good work!!

The Cattleman’s Daughter
In my opinion by far your best yet!
I treated myself to a copy the other day and have just finished reading it and enjoyed every minute of it!
Fortunately it is school holidays and my daughter is at her dad’s and things are quiet at present at both my jobs allowing me to do so :)
Was interested to read that one of the sources of research listed at the back of your book was the Louise L Hay book, You can heal your life.
I was given a copy last year by a Clairvoyant in Oatlands after a reading and until now it has sat in my wardrobe…
Guess what I shall be reading next????
Thanks for a great book and more so an insight into the lives and trials of all cattleman and women!
Ps: I know Friday has a good home with Fiona and Allan
