Puppy population explosion!

She’s done it. Connie’s had her first litter.
They arrived in a flurry of high drama overnight. We had to rush our other Kelpie, Gippy to the vet and seeing as Connie had seemed to stall on her whelping, the vet suggested I bring her in too for an ultrasound.
The worrying thing was there was a small amount of green discharge and no sign of contractions.
From the fuzzy grey image of the ultrasound we could see at least three strong hearbeats, but Connie was wagging her tail — not even looking like she’d deliver.
Three vets stood about looking down at her. Connie looked up at them wagging her tail, glad of the attention.
We all pondered. An emergency ceasar? Oxytocin to get contractions underway? Should we leave her? I had no idea.
We decided to give her more time, put her in a pen and turned our attention to Gippy. Five mintues later I could hear licking. The first pup had arrived. She simply popped it out.
I’ve seen litters born before and the bitches pant and whimper, sometimes yelp.
But Connie showed no signs of distress. An hour later two more pups arrived!
Manty the vet had never seen a bitch like her! We decided she was so relaxed and casual about the whole event, I bundled the whelping mum into the car and drove an hour home!
After I put Connie back into her bed and left her be, two more pups came as if on cue. And this morning, just now, she’s gutsing into milk, eggs and pellets and has seven, yes, seven litte pups. She’s a natural!
