The phone has run hot this morning since a front page article in the local paper about $1 per week rental properties!

We decided to rent the old farm cottage out at that price to help bring young community-minded families to the district.

The $1 per week housing has of course been snapped up — but there are other bargain rentals and purchases if you’d like to come and join our hard-working community.

Go to the Hidden Valley web site and check out the real estate guide.

There is also a place to register your willingness to help, whether it be putting your kids in the school, or help do up an old house.

Country communities should be the crowning glory of our nation. Let’s claim back some of the culture that has been eroded over time for our kids!

I left an enquiry this morning I forgot to mention that my husband is a bricklayer by trade and has been self employed for the last 12 years and 20 years experience and also has experience in concreting, paving and general building. We are the family with 3 children 2 of which are school age from NSW. Please forward any info to the above email address.

I’m curious as to how many houses you think you might be able to offer up as rentals? :)

I have recently seen your article re the $1 rentals and am wondering who I can contact about these?

I work with families facing crisis and homelessness as well as New immigrants. I have many, many families on my books at the moment who would be of great benefit to your community.
Please e-mail me with any further infomation about your project so I can put you in touch with these families. :)

Hi Rachael

Can you tell me what employment opportunities exist nearby? I am a mortgage broker and my husband is a road construction supervisor. We have always had a dream of opening a cafe/fish and chip shop. Is there opportunity to do this?

We are a single parent family with two children under the age of 5, my eldest is autistic and a rural community, small supportive school and a lot of fresh air would be ideal for us. How do we register for a possible move? I am studying to become a counselor and have a lot of experience with special needs children as well.

Hi Rachael
My partner and I are 23 yrs old with two children. We have recently faced some tough times with our families and our relationship. I have been asking my partner to move away with me and leave our troubles behind. As soon as I saw this notice and found your site I knew this would be perfect for us.
PLEASE send me some information on houses which may come available. I’ve always loved the idea of my children attending a small country school and learn hard-working country values.
Regards
Renee

I was thrilled to see you on the telly the other night. I live in country Victoria – Glenormiston to be precise and am heavily into Riding for the Disabled and Natural horsemanship. I am a Level 2 AIS Coach and National Assessor with RDAA and love it with a passion. I have read all your books and visit your web site every week just to catch up. Do you think that there would be a need in your area for my expertise??
