Countdown to Queensland …

It’s all systems go here — there’s bags to pack, ewes to drench, hooves to trim and mobs to move. (Lucky I’ve got my short-arse stockman, Charlie, to help — that’s him wanting an early smoko in our yards yesterday.)
It’s only two days before I head to Cairns. There, I’ll begin my journey on a bus with three other writers across 2400km of Top End country … from Mission Beach, to Undara, Normanton, Cloncurry, Mt Isa, Julia Creek, Richmond and Hughendon, Charters Towers and Townsville as part of the Write Across Queensland project. After our intensive workshop tour we’ll fly to Brisbane for the Writer’s Festival.
A three-week stint all up, so I’ll be back here just in time for lambing. And hopefully it would’ve bloody rained by then!
Keep watching this space for ongoing Queensland adventures!
