Southern Roots Concert

Down in little old Hobart Town, last weekend, we enjoyed a 12 hour marathon of worldclass music at the Southern Roots Concert in the beautiful Botanical Gardens.

We kicked off our day with Tassie’s Pete Cornelius and The Devilles who sing a blues song called Whiskey Drinkin Woman about a girl having ‘an affair with the Bundy Bear!’

Judging by the pic, the song could be about me! Here I am enjoying the day with my mum, Jenny and cousin, Michael.

Hi Rachael,
Sounds like you had a great day at the Southern Roots gig. No doubt Pete Cornelius was his usual brilliant self.I was sorry I wasn’t able to catch it as I was still recovering from a 14 hour Mcing stint at the Forth Valley Blues Fest the week before. I’ve been lucky enough to know Pete since his first Forth blues Fest at the age of 13, 11 years ago & have had the pleasure of watching him develop into a world class musso. Keith & Mick (WPA) hard to choose between but I think I would have gone for Mick as you did. A couple of years ago we had Mick (Solo) down at Longley International with the NW Coast band Liquid Nails. Mick blew everyone away. No doubt he did the same again.
