This half hour drama, starring John Jarrett was filmed on my cousins’ property in Tasmania’s picturesque Fingal Valley. The script was inspired by my concern for chemical use in farming. My husband John and I had cameo roles and my red Kelpie, Gippy stole the show, along with trained chooks.

I always knew I would write a novel one day. That day came when John and I quit our day jobs and moved to a cattle station in outback Queensland. I really wanted to tell an Australian story using a modern country heroine at its heart. Rebecca Saunders was born and so began my journey as an author.

Worried I would be a one-book wonder, I powered on with my second novel despite being as heavily pregnant as a cow with twin calves! The Stockman celebrates my love for the Kelpie Working Dog and for calm quiet stockmanship. It was born along with my first child Rosie.

This novel was based on a screenplay I wrote during a film writing course. Originally titled, B&S (Bachelors & Spinsters) after the notorious country balls, it sat in the bottom drawer for years until, me, a mother of two, brought it back to life while my second child Charlie came to life too!

Riding horses and droving cattle with my in-laws on the Dargo High Plains was the basis for my inspiration. Living through the anguish of bushfires is something I’ve experienced first hand. This book about caring for the land comes very much from my heart.
This book soon be released in the UK and Germany |
